So.. maybe a few more Trek chicks

I'm half falling asleep this morning posting about Romulan hair dues when it occurs to me that there are quite a few other Star Trek dues that warrant a mention.  These are in no order so, without further adeaux...

Ensign Ro Laren from The Next Generation.  Some of the series she had her hair short, but kind of slicked back.  Not my favorite, but she's Bajorin so it didn't make me dislike her.  However, there was a few episodes that she had short bangs in the front.  Score.  Great hair, the nose ridge thingy and my most favorite earring from the history of Star Trek and you have a winner.

Major Kira Nerys, also Bajorin from Deep Space 9.  Therefore she has two things already going for her.  The nose ridge thingy and the earring.  Much of the series she too sported the slicked back Bajorin look, but as the series progressed and she matured as a character her hair just got better.

Kess from Voyager.  Her hair had various incarnations throughout the series, most were cute.  Her species had the whole faerie pixie thing down which made the character attractive, but like I said, I'm into hair.  Here you go

T'pol from Enterprise.  Vulcans are known for their great hair.  If I could use the phrase "it goes without saying" I would here, but I can't because you don't know my mind and you probably haven't attained master nerd status yet.  So let me just show you the friggin logical photo

Ezri Dax from Deep Space 9.  Her character made this an even more interesting hairstyle.  She is really a host and a symbiote.  The hosts change, but the symboite lives a long time.  The interesting part is that the symbiote has all previous memories of the hosts including the male and female hosts.  So one minute your hanging with your guy buddy and the next minute your buddy is in a chick suit.  So, this particular Dax (symbiote) is named Ezri and she came in later in the series.  Just fyi, she's 2 out of 3.  Short hair chick with a gun = 2/3.  She'd be a 3 is she was around a car, motorcycle or since we're here, a shuttlecraft.

One more for now.  Tasha Yar from The Next Generation.  This one gets an honorable mention because she was my first childhood crush.  That's right.  I really geeked out because I absolutely loved her character, but they killed her off, but she has a guest appearance a few seasons later (temporal paradox business, best to not think to hard on this one).  Her character in that guest appearance travels back and time and guess what?  Has a kid with a Romulan.  I'm so freaking giddy right now.  Her child becomes a major player in later seasons and she looks like Tasha, but a Romulan! Seriously, best for last.

Her kid.  That's right. A blond Romulan. Nothing more need be said.  I'm so geeked out I won't be able to sleep tonight.

The Next Generation Romulan

I'm not sure who came up with the Romulan hair for Star Trek the Next Generation, but I'm a fan.  If you're frustrated with my obsession with hair, deal with it.  One episode, Deanna Troi infilitrates a Romulan ship and she looks great.  I have a photo.  In one of the movies, an actress from another movie franchise that I used to watch is the commander of a Romulan vessel that comes to the aide of the Enterprise.  The eyebrows and even the interesting foreheads are awesome on these ladies too.

They are very pixie-esque.  Love it.

Dream Cars and not so Dream Cars

I love cars.  I love to own them, to modify and work on them, and to make them mine.  I'm going to talk about a few of those.  Disclaimer....  Guns, girls and cars are most guys interests.  Guns I'm obsessive about, girls are fascinating and I'm only concerned with how the fictional ones resemble my wife and cars well, they'll be the death of me. Metaphorically speaking.  I'm going to talk about some of my favorites.  Quick side note guys.  The whole "I've wanted it since I was a kid" bit became laughable to my wife pretty quick.  I wanted a lot as a kid.  Now that I have grown older my hobbies have become more expensive.  So when you really want something make sure that it is a something that is important and that you will keep for a while.  Spouses tire quickly of confrontations over your interests.

The first was an original H1 Hummer from 1992.  It was the Desert Storm edition.  My dream model is a later year turbo charged military model with a slant back, but I don't have $30-$60k tucked into my mattress, though, I may have $1.57 under my couch.  This truck  was massive.  Perfect for the military and very tough.  It had leather interior and a brush guard.  The diesel engine didn't have much get up and go as it wasn't turbo charged, but when I got behind the wheel, I realized on thing.  This awesome truck was uncomfortable.  I'm 6'1" and you can't move the seat back.  I'm not joking.  It goes up and down, but not back.  I ended up selling it because despite the awesome factor it sucked to drive (forgive my language there).  There is a scene in the new version of Gone in 60 Seconds when they are stealing a two door Hummer and just watch how much they are crammed in there.  Here's a photo of the type that I owned.

Another dream car was my 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A in go mango with black interior.  I think the first thing that you should know is that Mopar parts are around 3 times the cost of Ford or Chevy and much harder to get.  The one that I found was up in Nebraska.  Susan and I flew up there and drove it home.  It was a blast.  I never finished it as the cost was too high to complete, so I sold it.  Here is what the finished one would have looked like.  Mine was in primer when I sold it.  I did have the correct wheels and tires, spoilers front and rear and the snorkel hood.  This is one bad looking car.  Mine was a clone as the originals cost $20-$120k.

Something a bit more in my price range is the Mitsubishi Eclipse.  I have owned three generations.  The first generation is a product of the time it was made so it is ugly.  The second however, is much more attractive with the exception of 95-96.  97-99 are my personal favorites.   I only ever owned the non-turbo GS and RS versions.  I had two black and one purple that was a bit more custom.  The purple, which was my favorite look almost identical to the one from the first Fast and the Furious move.  My dream version would be the GSX which was a turbo w/all wheel drive.  The next two pictures are of the one from Fast and the Furious and the other is a GSX.

I also purchased a 1975 Mercedes 300D.  It has become know of that car that shall not be named.  I drove it to the junk yard to be crushed.

I bought an 04 Crown Victoria P71 Police interceptor.  Cool, fast and 13-18mpg.  Sold it back to a police department ironically enough.

My first car was a 1979 Chevy Nova because I couldn't afford a 1972 or earlier.  Still can't today.  I actually grew really fond of that car.  Here's a photo of one.  Not mine though.  It is pretty much the same color and style of the one that I purchased it 1995 for $500

I have to admit that one of my all time favorites was one of my other high school cars.  It was a 1972 Buick Skylark.  Black interior and black exterior.  Beautiful.  I miss this one a great deal.  I wanted a GS, but I found mine for a $1000 and to a high school junior, that's a great deal. Here's what it looked like.

There's one other.  Nothing makes you think of classic America like and old Chevrolet truck.  I bought a 1966 longbed stepside not running and in primer.  It was a piece of crap, but don't tell my wife I said that.  I'll see if I can find one that looks as bad.  Can't.  You'll have to imagine this one in gray primer and with rust.

One other traumatic experience with one of histories greatest looser cars.  I'm actually surprised that this wasn't of the bad guys in Cars 2.  This is a 1964 Chevrolet Corvair.  It was the answer to the Volkswagen.  Air cooled rear engine drive.  I totaled mind in a head on collision and I think that was my first concussion.  Hopefully this is a close image.  Looked like this without the bad hubcaps and it had faded paint.

The last previously owned car er.. truck uh.. whatever that I'm going to mention is a 1979 Chevy El Camino.  It drove like a car and had a truck bed.  Mine looked about as redneck as you could get.  Imagine this paint faded and scratched huge tires in the back and little ones up front.  Just to identify the crowd that mine appealed to, I sold it for $900 and a hand gun.

What's up with Disney

Why are the moms in Disney films always dead?  There are a few exceptions, but seriously.  I believe that it may drive the story in some "I need to be like her, avenge her, sorrow for her, etc" kind of way, but dang.  Disney, quit it.  If you won't do it for me do it for the animals whose lives you've ruined.

Roxanne Ritchi

So, continuing on my same theme, because right now I'm sort of a one trick pony.  I was watching Megamind and thinking to myself man, I love Roxanne Ritchi.  She's super smart, commanding, has those huge Japanese anime eyes and something that I find irresistible, amazing hair.  I don't know what it is, but that short hair thing is like kryptonite.  Bravo Dreamworks, Bravo. Hey, anyone that can forgive Megamind and love him sets the bar high.  Something also interesting though is that I find so many of the same traits that Susan has are those that I find compelling in these fictional characters.  I know that I married someone a cut above the rest because so many animated women hare created like Susan.  Hot, smart, commanding, intelligent, compassionate, and most importantly, forgiving.  If it wasn't for her amazing capacity to forgive me, I know it's hard to believe that anyone like me could make a mistake that required forgiveness is so far fetched, I would be a sad and lonely little (figuratively of course) man.  So, you may think I praise my wife a lot and you'd be correct, but it's because she is so unique to this world that there is no word in English that can convey how very special she is.  I digress once more.  I chose two pictures of Roxanne.  Like usual, one is the animated version and the other a cosplay (seriously, who doesn't want to dress up like amazing characters?).  If you answered no, it's best to keep that to yourself.

Captain Amelia

I was watching Nanny McPhee Returns last night with my spouse and it sparked a conversation.   I was convinced that Emma Thompson also played Moira Panning in Hook.  I was wrong, which was weird.  Anyway, I go to looking at other roles Emma Thompson played that I enjoyed and there was Sense and Sensibility, but one that made me geek out was Treasure Planet back from '02.  Odd thing is some guys, usually the nerdy ones can find animated characters attractive. I'm not talking shrine in the bedroom obsessed, with the exception of maybe Olivia Wilde in Tron Legacy.  Anyway, Susan and I looked at some pictures of characters from Treasure Planet because Emma Thompson voiced my favorite character, Captain Amelia.  All I'm saying is that some animated characters are attractive.  It's only fair to list some attributes other than just looks.  Captain Amelia commands her own ship, is really tough yet refined and incredibly intelligent.  Aside from commanding a ship I pretty much married a woman just like that, minus the being an animated cat part.  I digress, here's a picture of Captain Amelia.  This is pretty much for the guys I think, but like I said she exudes a commanding presence while later in the film becomes a loving mother.  This is a great example of a feminine role  model.  Especially if you are striving to be an animated cat.  Just as a side note, I don't really like cats so this is a big step for me.  Just think about how terrifying that cat was from Star Trek V that was in the bar.  Total psycho.  Anyway here's the photo and I'm also throwing in a cos play version  as well.

A Change in Scenery

Well, RAW automotive has pretty much died down.  So, I thought I'd actually use my blog to well, blog. We'll see what comes to my mind. If anything.
